Get To Know Me

I grew up on the small island of Catalina just off the coast of Los Angeles, California. After several years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard and a few years driving commercial tug boats up and down the coast between San Francisco and San Diego, it became more difficult to get back on the plane and head back to work. One of the best decisions of my life was to settle into this beach community here in Nosara. I met my wife walking the beach and have had the opportunity to raise my 2 little boys in paradise.
 
I have been a licensed local real estate agent here for 14 years and managed many homes in the community as well. My Mother and Father built a boutique hotel here in Nosara and opened the doors in 1998. Assisting in the daily operations of the hotel gave me the foundation of how a business operates in Costa Rica. I have had the pleasure of working with the community in many different ways from assisting in our local wildlife refuge program and reforestation projects to emergency community planning.
 

Meet Brian - My Vision

My vision is to help others make Nosara home as my family has had the blessing to do. Work with our community to protect natural resources, Local preserve lands, support Nosara's Local Wildlife foundation, and other community projects that make Nosara so special. I love this community and have been proud to see my friends born and raised here in Nosara grow into successful business people, grow their families, and make their dreams come true. Assist the community to grow in the most sustainable way possible at the same time try to guide new members of our community in locating their spot in paradise.

A Hidden Gem

Nosara initially was an agricultural and Cattle farming area. Before the main road was built the community was serviced by a barge that landed in the bay of Garza just south of Playa Guiones. This is how the initial materials for some of the first homes in our beach community were delivered. They were then loaded to Ox Cart and hauled to the build sites. Back then when you purchased a property you filled out an Application to Purchase, Instructing the developer to Reserve the best lot they have available in the category of the size that you desired. You enclosed a Refundable deposit of $100 USD for each lot reserved. You could select a property in the community or they would select one for you. As soon as they received your reservation they sent you plans and land maps of the main property as well as the specifics on your lot and sent via standard mail the purchase contract.  From this point, you had a 60 day period to exit this agreement and receive your deposit back!

Our beach community was later found by Surfers & Yogis who began to build modest homes in our jungle community to visit more frequently. It started with a great wave and was a hidden gem. Our community is an epic failure of sorts as it was designed to be a Golfcourse community back in the ’70s. When it did not work, the initial developer took the large fairways and several other large sections of our community and converted them to local preserve land. The developer gave them to what was our Homeowners Association and they quickly converted to a Land Conservation Group that is a publicly appointed board by the members of our community now known as “The NCA” or Nosara Civic Association. 

Over the years our community has evolved from a sleepy beach town in the jungle hidden from most of the world to a bustling surf and Yoga getaway location for people from all over the world.
